Why is Bhutan Known by Different Names


At the border of our country there are four main routes to enter our country. The four main routes are namely: Dungsamkha in east, Pasakha in south, Dalingkha in west and Taktser kha in north are located  at the border of our country, therefor our country is known as Lho Men Kha Zhi(southern land of four approaches)

 In our country, there is lots of cypress tree and also our national tree, therefor is known as Tshendenjong(southern land of sandalwood)



              


 In Bhutan there is many medical herbs over the land such as: Artemisia, Rhododendron, Orchid and Cordyceps. Therefore is known as lho Menjong(southern land of medical herbs.




Mostly over the land of Bhutan is all characterized by mountains and passes such as Gangkar puensum, Jiwchu drakey, jomolhari etc... Therefore country is known as Ri Drag Gi Yul(southern land of mountain)

Bhutan's head of state appears on the Bhutan's flag, as yellow color represent the king of Bhutan and orange color represent the head of religious and the white dragon as the protector(deity) of Bhutan with opening mouth, meaning Land of Thunder Dragon(DrukYul)
